Founded by President and General Manager Dan Pitman, Industrial Automation & Communication Systems has grown into one of the region’s most trusted names in automation and industrial technology. What began as a focused effort to bring cutting-edge control solutions to the Bakken has evolved into a key division within Triangle Electric, supporting industries where precision, reliability, and uptime define success.
Established in 2008, the Industrial Automation division originally operated out of a 250 sq. ft. office at Triangle Electric’s headquarters in Williston. Industrial Automation has since expanded its Williston facility to over 10,000 sq. ft. and added a second location in Minot, ND with another 10,000 sq. ft. panelshop. Both staffed by a team of seasoned technicians and engineers who understand the day-to-day demands of oil and gas operations. The division designs and delivers complete automation control systems, custom-built variable frequency drive solutions, industrial communications networks, and field services that keep critical infrastructure running smoothly.

In 2023 the company expanded from its Williston headquarters to open a panel shop in Minot, ND. This Minot location — led by manager Brandon McBride — specializes in high-horsepower drives and supports substantial field work across Western North Dakota and Eastern Montana.
Operating alongside Triangle Electric’s broader industrial, commercial, and oil-and-gas divisions, Industrial Automation & Communication Systems represents the company’s dedication to delivering forward-thinking, reliable automation and communication solutions tailored to the toughest environments. Their mission remains straightforward: to design, build, and deploy robust control systems that empower clients to maintain efficiency, safety, and long-term resilience.
